IMPEDIMENTS OF DEMOCRACY

There are many obstacles in the way of democracy. Some important facts can however be discussed and given as under:
i. The illiteracy rate in Pakistan is very high.
ii. The political leaders in Pakistan are mostly inefficient and unqualified.
iii. Satisfactory freedom has not yet been given to the press and media.
iv. The majority of public is not politically mature.
v. Social and economic inequality is other important factor.
vi. Provincialism and regionalism are taking root in Pakistan.
vii. The illegitimate involvement of military and civil bureaucracy.
viii. Delay in election is one of the most important factors.
ix. The political parties are not efficient
